Soft Tissue Surgery
Orthopaedic surgery
Soft tissue surgery
At Anstead Veterinary Practice we perform all types of soft tissue surgery including but no limited to lump removals, wound repairs, abdominal surgery, caesarians and routine desexings.
Orthopaedic Sugery
The staff at Anstead Veterinary Practice perform many orthopaedic surgeries but if necessary visiting orthopaedic specialists are available for more complex procedures.
Operating Theatre
Surgery on dogs, cats and other small animals is conducted in the small animal theatre. This room is equipped with an operating table, anaesthetic machine and heart and pulse monitors. Modern techniques in anaesthetic monitoring and intensive care are employed. Our anaesthetic regime is similar to that used in human hospitals.
Hospital
Hospital
Laboratory
Our family pets are cared for in the hospital while they are being treated or are waiting for routine day surgery such as desexing. They may also have a brief stay here prior to having xrays or ultrasound examination. Our nursing staff likes to give each animal individual attention. Nurses are in attendance to ensure patients are monitored and treated when required.
Routine Desexing
We recommend routine desexing of all animals not part of a breeding program in order to minimise associated health and behavioural problems. The ideal age for desexing is 5-6 months.
Laboratory
At Anstead Veterinary Practice we perform a large range of in-house laboratory testing. We offer pre-anaesthetic blood tests to ensure your pet is medically fit before surgery as well as geriatric screening and general health profiles. Our in-house laboratory services include haematology, biochemistry, blood gases, electrolytes and cytology. We can also run diagnostic tests for Heartworm Disease, Feline Leukaemia Virus and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. Access to a regional laboratory permits reliable test results for all other conditions.
Visiting Specialists
Visiting specialist surgeons regularly visit the practice and are always available for more complicated cases. Our vets are regularly in contact with medical specialists as well.
